Join Sara in Asheville’s River Arts District for a Paper Moon Portrait Session, perfect for your sweetie, lover, best friend or anyone you’re over the moon about.

Paper Moon Photo booths were popular at traveling fairs during the 1900’s when most people did not have access to photography. I’ve always had a soft spot for these images, I especially love the varying moons with their cute quirks and wanted to recreate that feel in the studio.

Each time this event is held the moon will remain relatively the same but the back drop, stars, clouds and night sky will differ for each event. Backdrops will be black, however, sometimes chemistry can cause a haze on your plate rendering it a foggy night on the moon. These variations in chemistry are what makes this process so special. Each image is a unique and one of a kind.

Appointments will be available for 8x10 sizing option, each tintype comes with a high resolution digital scan sent to your inbox. If time allows you may add on a second plate at the normal 8x10 plate price.

Any seconds or imperfect plates we may shoot due to blinks or bad chemistry can be purchased at 50% off. Digital Scans of these can also be purchased at $25 per scan. If not purchased these re-shoot plates will be utilized in the studio for mixed media experiments.

Each session is an hour long and private, please come on time, not late or early, as folks before you may still be in session.

Feel free to come with several clothing options, however, patterns, texture and denim look best. Please try to avoid solid or dark colors (black, red, orange, yellow or green) as you may be lost in the background.

Please limit your party to 2 people or 2 adults and one child that is able to sit on your lap. The paper moon set up does not allow for any more people than this.
